I just came back from tranny service
Car is 266 000 kms now, I thought the shifting was clunky and annoying and it worried me cause I didn't know when was the last time it had been changed.
But then I was scared crapless to have them flush it because of all the horror stories I've read all over the net. Didn't feel good changing it myself, unlike many other things I don't mind doing as a weekend mechanic.
The improvements are immediate. Smoother shifts, less shudder when shifting, and less vibration on idle when in drive. Jerking is also less pronounced when letting off the gas a bit to engage O/D. The car still clunks when shifting from Park to Reverse, but I guess I can't do much about it. I don't shift it from Drive to Reverse either cause then the clunk is over the top, I just stop by Park to go back to reverse.
I will bump this thread if anything, so all the scared dudes out there will know if my tranny melts next week, but honeslty I doubt it. And for people searching for answers on Internet messageboards, if this thread has not been bumped for a year and your tranny fluid doesn't look like Soy Sauce, go ahead and do it.
