4th Generation Do you ever wish your door stayed open better?

Man, the ratchet mechanism or whatever it is (what is the right term for the mechanism that has a point that is hard to get past but then stays in that position once you get it there?) is really weak on my Gen4s. Park on the slightest slope and you might as well not have it!

I remember the exact shape of the cam that controlled this action on my '76 Chevy Malibu. Now THAT thing worked perfectly, even though the door probably weighed double and the car was over 20 years old.

Sorry to intrude intoa Gen4 situation, but my Gen 5 has that same problem. On slope, Off slope, my doors won't stay open for the slightest second, ulest I hold them. Do I have power door closures?

YES definately have that problem. especially with the heavy front doors. even our highlander doors arent as heavy! but even on a slope our highlander doors shut on us. My mom got her shin bruised when my gen 4 closed on her on her way out.

There's no remedy for it is there?I know most cars are like this though, but they typically have lighter doors.

I have the same problem on my 97, but it doesn't bother me much.

I wish my doors closed better, have to use good ammount of force to close all the doors, and back right door needs a good kick to get closed.

On my older Nissans never had that problem, doors needed a slight push to close.

My Camry does the same thing, and is pretty much impossible for the door to stay open on a slope or hill. It is really annoying, but I don't live in hilly areas so it isn't so bad.
