K&N vs Kool blue, and cleaning air filters

Hi Folks. i have a 94 camry, and want to install a re useable air filter. Which is better, K&N, or Accel's Kool blue? Also, to clean these filters, the manufacturers sell special liquid products. Is there an inexpensive alternative that can be used to clean these air filters? Thanks, Glenn

K&N vs. Kool Blue.. I think they are both pretty much the same.. Unless K&N fanboys come or Kool Blue kids come.. I say you should go with whatever is cheaper. K&N does have a lifetime warranty though (dunno about kool blue). Other performance brands include "Mean green" (is that what it's called? I forget...) and Fram's AirHog.

As far as cleaning them, I know that they say the special "oil" they put is just a spray filled with 5w30 but I'm not sure.. wait to see what other users say about that.

These K&N questions come up to damn often, can any one just sticky the outcome of this thread???????? (assuming its good)

I've always used the K&N filter cleaning kit.

Your paying $40 or so for the filter, so whats another $8 for the cleaning kit (cleaner + oil).
