i have a 98 1mz-fe, trd supercharged and yes it does have four cams. Only two timing gear pulleys, but the cams are joined by two scissor gears which can be seen under the valve covers. It is a very reliable engine and quite capable of producing considerable power.

Really? I just got the 2000 camry V6, it has about 69K miles on it. Should I change the timing belt? On the owner's manual, it says timing belt should be changed every 90k miles. It's not there yet, but should I worry about it?

I've test driven a BMW 325 which has less horsepower than this 1MZ-FE V6 engine, but the acceleration is much quicker (a lot quicker) on the BMW than the Camry. Both are auto tranny.

The BMW 3Series as a whole is intentionally sportier. BTW it is an Inline 6 aint it?

I believe that BMW uses I6 engines, probably because they are naturally balanced more so than a V6 - thus improving the luxury feel of the engine.

iono wtf your talking about, both the 1mz and 325 have almost identical times

0-60 times 8.1 for 325 vs 8.5 for 1mz
1/4 times 16.0 seconds @ 86.5 mph for 325
16.2 seconds @ 87 mph for 1mz

bmw's are known for their top end though

Funny that you said that.. recently i saw this 4 door 525 on the highway... started playing.. We stoped at this light... and then up until 90mph i was leading... (i do mean leading ) then i said uhh not worth a ticket( and BMW is better in high speeds)... so ok a BMW is a BMW but the v6 camry can definitely keep up at least with the 325/525 ...
