now I have tried searching but nothing relevant seems to come up...if a similar topic IS up could someone please give me the link?
-about my problem. Whenever I accelerate I hear a rattling coming from my engine...even when my car is in park and I press the gas...the rattling is still heard...anyone know what the problem may be? If so, will I be able to fix it? If not, how much might it cost?
Thanks in advance for your help everyone!

I used to drive a Nissan Sentra that had a rattle. Turns out it was just a heat shield that had gotten a little loose. The repair was made at no charge. Of course, it could be a wide variety of things, from simple like that, to not so simple like a bad motor mount, although it doesn't really sound like amotor mount issue.

Have you had you timing belt changed lately? Mine made a rattling flapping sound when is was about to go out. Listing closely to the engine and see if it comes from that timing belt area.
yeah...that was the first thing I checked...
I think the noise is coming from the little black thing thats like connected to the engine...I'm not sure what that is...its right behind the alternator...

dang it...it might be my timing belt...I don't think my mom took it for regular tune ups since we got the car ...but it has run fine since the day we drove it off the lot (I have 186,XXX miles on the car)...so more than likely it is the timing belt...if it is...how do I check it? and would I be able to change it myself?

You should probably change your water pump as well.

Well, a timing belt with a water pump and all the respective seals being replaced.. it's not all that cheap. Hopefull you'll find a mechanic who isn't out to rob you blind.
