Is there such a thing as a shift kit for a Camry auto?

I know you can find them for a lot of the American brands, but I didn't know if anyone had come across one for Camrys (Gen 3 in particular). I'm sure most of you will just tell me to do a manual swap, and that's fine, but I just figured if there was such an animal for the Camry auto it might be a cheaper way to gain some performance without sacrificing the convenience of the auto.

Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated!

Southwest. In the Joplin area. Probably around 4 hours from you.

Wow. I'm suprised how little attention this got. Just thought I would resurrect it for a second time around to see if anyone else has any insight.

what do you mean exactly by "shift kit"?

do you mean as in a performance oriented rebuild kit for the auto tranny?

Hey everyone. There aren't any explicit esk's for camrys but you should check out
http://www.levelten.com/ they seem pretty knowledgeable about performance transmissions, especially automatics, and they were featured in a couple tuner mags. They don't call their packages/kits esk's but they do the same thing essentially. Only thing with them is that they are located in NJ, not sure if they have any dealers in Missouri, but you can always order from them for a diy. Hope this helps.

The best and closest thing to a "shift kit" is sending your valve into http://www.importperformancetrans.com and paying the 495.00 for them to rebuild it for performance. Pretty good price for what you get. That is the only option available besides having the whole thing rebuilt for like 2 grand.

And yes levelten does pretty much the same but they charge more and i have no experience with their quality.

Thanks for the info Rdizzle! Good to know there's another place like that in NJ, especially if they have cheaper prices It's also a lot closer to where I am, thanks.

ipt is supposed to be top of the line

the best thing that you could actually get for your auto tranny (performance-wise) is a high stall tc- it'll cost you less than a grand for parts- the installation is up to you
