After seeing TheAmazingNate's car too many times I've decided to keep my camry. Even though it's the clear is going on the plastic parts and the interior needs some work, I'm going to keep it. The car was babied before I got it, so even at 100 thousand miles it should be pretty solid. I need springs and struts though. I have looked at the Tokicos, H&R springs etc, what is a good combo? Also, what about the K Sport or Tein coilovers? How much would it cost to get a full setup of those? How much work is it to install them?
I'd say no to coilovers for the prive of them. I personally have KYB struts and 1" Eibach springs on my Gen 3 V6 and love them. Tokico's are also a good brand. I'd say stick with Eibachs for springs as to the quality.

5 Lug Corolla WHAT?
It seems as if they are both around 1000 a set. How much of a difference is there between a set of Tokicos with Intrax 1.6" drop springs, and either of these? What about ride? I am willing to do either, as on a project of this scale (I'm going to turbo the camry eventually) $400 extra to save isn't going to be the end of the world, But I want to upgrade the wheels and suspension first so that when I do get power, the car can handle it.
Ask Allen (ufoz) about the ksport coilovers. He might be able to give you some info on them. As far as tein, I don't know if they make coilovers for the gen3, but the gen4 coilovers are alright. Tein coilovers usually go for in the neighborhood of $1500- $2500 depending on what kind of application. Install is pretty much just bolt on replacement, so the install isn't hard. The install for the spring/struts take a little more time, but aren't much harder and with the right tools, a couple of friends, and beer, it'll be quick. (2-4 hours depending on knowledge, help and tool/equipment availability)
Also forgot to mention, coilovers usually have horrible ride quality due to the focus on performance value. If you're going for a slight drop for show or street driving go with springs and struts. If you plan to make big power later, and spend a lot of time at the track, go for the coilovers.
Full coilovers are easy to install, as well, struts with springs that you don't have to compress should also be easy but I assume you'd use the strut mounts from the ones you have now so you'll need some spring compressors unless you want to face the wrath of compressed springs in your face Springs that you have to compress to install onto the strut are a bit harder and probably the most annnoying.
100K engine boosted? Maybe a rebuild of the engine is in order?
And to counter Shingouki () Coilovers do give you the ability to raise or lower the car depending your mood But yes, a slightly harsher ride is to be expected and I'm sure low profile tires don't do crap to help with that harshness either

They only have a horrible ride quality if you go with a really aggressive setup. You can easily opt for softer springs and have a near stock ride quality if you so desire. Coilovers give you that type of adjustability. Originally, my Hotbits coilovers came with some pretty stiff springs. I ordered some new ones and the ride is now much improved. Besides, coilovers give you really nice height adjustment, whereas you might get an uneven drop with just struts and springs (just ask theamazingnate about his new Ksport springs), making you cut the springs later on if you want a more even ride height. With coilovers, you can just order shorter springs. In addition, you can get camber and toe adjustability, as well as compression/rebound/dampener adjustability on some setups (not mine). Some even come with in car adjustability, although I don't think any of those applications exist for the Camry.

If you're on the fence about keeping your car try to get it back to OEM specs as much as possible, i.e. not lowered, so when you do decide to sell it you'll have a larger market to target rather than someone looking for a lowered Camry. Jon.
Well, I wasn't on the fence, until today. I recently got word back that my letter to the editor of Turbo Magazine would be published, and it was on this very subject, so I'm going to wait and see what they say before I decide on anything.
But I want to upgrade the wheels and suspension first so that when I do get power, the car can handle it.
Finally, someone who understands. Im exactly the same way, people are like whyt are you doing all this shit and nothing to the engine?? im like well the car has to handle the power first DUH!! i hate people who slap on a turbo with NO aftermarket suspension and stock brakes, it pisses me off.

Just the minor brake upgrade and suspension work would KILL a stock camry on a circuit track. JUST upgrading that stuff makes it a lot better. Makes up for the low (relatively speaking) power.
