4th Generation VSV cleaning?

is it possible to service a VSV? im talkin bout my EGR VSV. the problem isnt with my EGR. so next step would be to check out my VSV. and after that, i have no idea.

the car idles and runs weird with everything plugged in. vacuum lines, etc. but when i disconnect the line from the VSV to the EGR valve, it stops idling rough, and evens right out. so im led to believe its the VSV.

any suggestions?

Cleaning the EGR is worth a try, but if cleaning doesnt fix it, change the EGR. Also try cleaning your throttle body butterfly and IAC with carb cleaner.

EGR Sensor

If it has an EGR position sensor check that before you go disturbing all the EGR hardware. Check that the sensor resistance changes smoothly as you press the sensor pin in and out.

Hope this helps.
