i'd just get a new front clip. Makes things easier.

I'll be quite frank with you. Sell the camry, and buy a v6 if ya want more power. I've thought about this as well, and the payoff just isn't worth it IMHO.

I know many will tell you to get a six, but a properly tuned turbo can do wonders, and even outpace the stock V6, plus it's lighter. To get max performance, you will have to have a custom manifold made up, but it will probably still be less expensive than a new front clip.

I don't think he or most others here have the budget for a 3sgte. And a turbo 5sfe would probably run you a bit more than a v6 swap and might not be as reliable. He does not say he wants gobs of power, just more. If the car isn't a rare car like a coupe or a 5spd, i would also say just find a v6 to begin with.

4th Generation

Agreed. I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that the 5sfe just doesn't have a ton of power and there's not really much to do about that without swapping the motor which would take more time/money than the car is worth.

Not true... I did a v6 swap on my last car and that was incredible... the torque is right there, much more than with a standard turbo setup. also, if you turbo the 5sfe, the power may be close, or even pass the stock v6 by, with a ton of money, time and dedication. BUT if you swap in a 1mz, the power is there too, and it is RELIABLE. The 1mz is right around the same weight as the 5sfe. the 5sfe has an iron block and the 1mz has an aluminum block. the wieght saved there makes up for the extra couple cylinders. you dont need anything custom with a v6 swap. it is all factory bolt on parts.

BUT if you can get past that stuff and still want to turbo your 5sfe, then check the sticky at the top of the forum, how to turbo your 5sfe. OR cruise on over to www.mr2oc.com their message board info about the 5sfe turbo convsersion is an invaluable resource.

i wanna stay automatic tho. if i can atleast put a torque converter and slap a turbo on it it'll be str8 but i really dont wanna mess w/ that. my brother has a civic turbo and he can help me out but nah..it's a camry. i just want something more torqy w/ some more power plus they sound nice lol. either way if i were to sell it i dont think anyone would buy it w/ all ive done to it. i've cut holes on the door panels for the tweeters, i cut holes on the pillars next to the seats for tweeters and i cut all the stock speaker connections and i have no trunk lining. i doubt anyone would buy it for enough to buy me a v6
