3rd Generation white smoke

whats up ppl, i have kinda of a problem , friday i went to the car wash , cleaned the car . afer cleaning the car i decided to check my fluids , every thing was fine except the engine oil was missing half a quart ( no biggie) so i added some .(kool) next day start the car up , went to get breakfast (kool) start it up like an hour later so i can head to the state of PA and as i was on the highway i looked on my rearview mirror and noticed white smoke coming from my exhaust (shitin bricks) so i pulled over and checked every fluid and it was fine . question is ? what the fuck is it? one mechanic told me had to do with antifreeze or the head gasket no good , some help me please

you might have added to much oil. you have to cool the car and let the oil drain back into the pan.

Yeah, typically white smoke signifies that coolant issues

I'd say oil but burning oil would leave black smoke... not white.. As well, it's smell bad.. coolant burning leaves the exhaust smelling kinda sweet, just as coolant smells new in a bottle or in your radiator.

i too have whitish smoke coming out of my gen3, and right now i have it boiled down to a few things, burnt piston rings and an exhaust leak. i got almost 200K miles on the cam and i still get decent mileage with all things considered.

any other previous issues with the car? was at any point your car overheating?

forgot to mention the engine only has 84k miles and was replaced like 6 month ago with 72k miles. i do check my fluids on the regular and get oil changed just about every 3k miles , but i'll check my engine oil to make sure its not overfilled . thanks

Sorry but burning oil thru the engine will leave a bluish smoke not black!

Coolant =white
Oil=blue
Too rich=black

Lightbulb Use the Search Function.....

Dude,
You now have enough info to do a search on "Blown Head Gaskets".

FYI:
Burned oil is BLUE smoke
Water makes steam, it is WHITE smoke
Unburned gas is BLACK smoke

So even if your color blind you can smell the difference....

Off hand, watch the oil level and coolant, cuz it sounds like your headed down the path of a blown gasket.

Best of Luck

/ra

my guess is coolant leaking somewhere inside the block.. which means head gasket is not flush all the way around anymore.
