0 - 60?

Im not posting to find out my zero to 60 but see heres the thing. I have my camry and my friend has his civic that is like 1992 that has the stock motor and i know it isnt more than 100 horsepower and he has like 400 thousand plus miles. so how do i like, i feel stupid but how do i step on the pedal to go fast? i noticed on this (automatic) camry, when you floor it, it just revs so high and doesn't really go anywhere. am i suppose to semi-full throtle it? i seriously feel stupid for asking these questions so please dont flame me that badly :/

Start in L, floor it, rev it to like 5k (just a personal preference, I never hit redline) then shift to 2nd, keep your foot on the gas, and go up through the gears when the revs get high.

On a side note, though, those Honda motors are fast. I was slightly embarrassed to lose to a completely stock Civic in a V8 Cherokee. At high revs those VTECs are killer.

ohh thanks, what i was doing at the time was starting L but when i shifted to second it didnt shift unless i let go of the gas, and i know my friends civic doesnt have vtec. im more of a honda head ( i love my camry though ) and it has a d16y7 which is a sohc non-vtec motor, so theres no reason why i would be losing. !

isn't civic is much lighter than camry. If that's the case, it really doesn't need much of hp to accelerate the civic and no matter how you try, you are going to be slow.
