Exclamation 2nd gen header question

hey everyone

what really sets me off is when i am on some website, and all i can find are new headers for civics and all that other stuff! i have heard that it's possible to get diffeent header for say my 91 camry, is this true? i know there are replacements, but i want something better than the origional one, seeing as i am repplacing the whole exhaust system this spring, i have looked around and couldn't find any, well i tried jcwhitney, com and thought i found some, here's the link if you wanna check it out, just copy and past this in the URL, http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jht...equestid=13013 , i mean, i searched under camry and thats all i got, but is there anymore websites that would carry them?????? thanks

They do make a header for hte 2nd gen camry 3sfe. You have to look under 86-89 celica with the 3sfe motor. It is the same as the 2nd gen camry 4 cylinder. the only makes are pace setter and jap speed. the jap speed is almost impossible to find now. I am like one of the only people that have one. I jsut got lucky with mine. the pace setter one though I heard fits. If you check out my website you can also see the other things I have done to my camry and everything I plan on doing. If you have any questions please feel free to email me or send me an im on aol or msn.

Hey! That's my car!

The pacesetter header fits, but the bolt holes had to be modified slightly. I'll know how it performs once I get a new exhaust system on there (I have the header with the stock exhaust right now).

I knew it was your car. Hope you didn't mind, it's a great album. For the bolt hole modifications, did you only have to make them bigger to get them to line up correctly?

No worries. I don't mind. I'm glad to know that a few people know the modifications I've done to my car.

I had to open up two of the six bolt holes on the header. I didn't have the patience to just open up the holes, so I just made the O into a C by cutting a notch out of the flange (a hack saw is faster then a dremel!). I figured the 1/2" steel was still strong enough that way... So, 4 out of the six were perfect, and the other 2 were about 1/4" to 3/8" off. Not difficult to do, but it doesn't quite leave you with a true warm-and-fuzzy bolt-on feeling.

I plan on buying the Pacesetter header this spring once it warms up. I am glad to hear that the bolt hole modifications are not as difficult as I thought. Thanks for the help.

No problem. Remember to budget money to have an O2 sensor bung welded on (and for an O2 sensor, if the bung doesn't fit the current O2 sensor on your car) and for new gaskets. If you have the right tools to break the nuts loose, its pretty easy.
