4th Generation Trouble with the CEL

I'm currently a little short of funds to get the CEL code pulled but perhaps someone could tell me what my issue could be.

So 2 possible things run through my mind.

1. Ebay intake that leaves one of the intake hoses unused causes the CEL. However it didnt cause it during the first 500 miles of use. So im sort of ruling that out. Idle, performance etc is pretty ok.

2. I bought a resistor off of ebay to 'trick' the intake sensor into thinking i the air it's taking in, is 10 degrees colder than it actually is. I havent used it in a while, but the first resistor i put in caught fire and singed the connecting harness. That initially caused a CEL, but after a reset, the light didnt come back on. Using another resistor it hasnt caused a CEL. But for the last 1000 miles i havent used a resistor.

Okay so i havent been keeping a log but it seems to me that about every 500 some odd miles the CEL turns on. And it seems to turn on when i sit idle at a stop light with the A/C on.

I just switched to the OEM intake box yesterday and i'll monitor...but its kind of wierd this is happening. Thanks for any input.

If you have Autozone in your area they will do it for free.
