do you have a Haynes manual or something? i have a different brand (gregory's) that you probably won't get over in the States and it tells you pretty much everything that you can do on the car. i imagine the other books would be the same.

is your car auto or 5 speed

auto is pretty hard to rebuild, too many parts inside the tranny.
5 speed will be easier

I just rebuild my tranny on my celica, it is expensive. Even if you do it by yourself, the parts are hard to find, or very expensive. If you can look for another same model tranny and just swap it on, it will be easier. But again, the whole tranny is not cheap too.
