4th Generation Breather Filter/Oil Catch Can?

I bought a breather filter but haven't installed it yet. I was doing some forum searches and heard about an oil catch can... Can I get a little more explaination on what an oil catch can does and do I use just an oil catch can or both the filter and the oil catch can. Also where do I get an oil catch can and about how much do they run? Thanks a lot to anyone with some input. Greatly Appreciated!

The oil catch can seperates the oil from the air comming out of the PCV valve. It does this by having baffles inside that cause the oil to seperate. This keeps teh oily air from going into your engine. This really does work because i have one. You can get cheap ones on ebay $20+ or go to jegs.com $40+.

I did a search on eBay.

I'd guess it at being from the PCV valve to the catch can inlet and then the hose from the catch can outlet to the intake manifold. Since the liquid oil is heavier than air, it'll just drop into the can whilst the air just slide through.

Is there any disadvantage to this? I'm assumign that this will most likely be a good mod for the kids who actually have something besdies a stock engine? Although, I've seen the inside of my intake manifold and that bitch is black I guess it's the oil Damn you oil.. damn you...

Aside from pulling the intake manny off, is there any other way to clean it? I Seafoamed not to long ago but I don't really see seafoam cleaning that gunk mess

P.S. Is that breather filter the same thing (job-wise) as a catch can? Catch can is fancier looking though defintely sweet to look at to show your fellow ricers LOL!!! Kidding, kidding!!!

Since PCV is part of the emmissions system, you may get some flak for putting that in. I am not certain whether or not that mod is illegal or not, but California is very strict about mods, especially anything that can affect emmissions.

They should give us awards for installing the catch can since this will prevent oil from being burned and will let our engines last longer and not end up in a big junkyard Meanwhile, I just saw a catch can that has the breather filter on the outlet side. Is the breather the same crap? In other words, it is like filtering filtered water?

Can I reuse the oil in the catch can?

I'mma put two catch cans and a filter KIDDING!!! Hey.. it's go nicely with my blue LED corners Probably another fifty horse power too!!!

Theres no real "gain" from installing one of these. Thats not to say there not useful. However, you need to have a CLEAN engine before hand. The oil catch can will prevent your intake system from being clogged with oil (especially good for turbocharged cars). It will prevent a "performance decrease" over time, by having the motor cleaner. If you install one on "used" motor, you prevent further buildup, but its not going to clean it anymore!... so yeah...rebuild your motor, then put one in..! hahah.

Ah well. It is pretty look at in the engine bay If I DO decide to get one, TN will be the first to see the picuters of the EBay rice How fast does the catch can fill up though? I guess it depends on how bad your engine spits out oil via the PCV valve

I read on a LS1 forum that it helped a guy who was smoking from his exhaust.. I thought that was interesting
