hi,

Guys you were great in helping me out with my tires concern. Thanks again.

I just want to know how I can add some power (HP)to my 4cyl 98 Camry.

Some people told me to add on Muffler . It will add 5-7 Hp.

Is it Correct ?

If not then what can I do ?
Please advice.-----

alright what u do is listen very carefully to what i have to say.
U drive your car till it is empt of gas and then u put 40 litres of kerozene air plane fuel in it no more no less than 40 litres, and then u remove your stock air box and don't put anything there jujst leave it.
This way u'll get sound and power.

Just joking but I wouldn't expect to see that much from a muffler a cat back exhaust maybe, get a cold air intake thats a good bang for the buck power adder, if u wanna get serious u got nos, not sure if anyone makes a turbo for ur car (guys?).
Options are pretty much lmitless but for some u will have to sacrifice driveability the choice is yours.

A full cat-back will get you 5hp at the wheels. It would be better if you get cold air intake together with the cat-back because that'll help to get 1-2 HP also.

The easy way to describe a cat back is the long pipe that goes into the muffler. You'd probably get a new muffler too, that is lighter and less restrictive and straight through.

For intakes, I would say custom is a good way to go... because I don't think anyone that has put on a brand name intake has actually got any real worthwhile results to make it worth the price you pay for the name.

Wellyou can buy a injen intake for 150$ US for your car and just take some extra pipes and bring the filter into the bumper, that setup will be a cold air intake. And if you want to get more power i think that a full cat-back with a small resonator will be prefect.I think you can also get the underdrive pulleys for your car if you realy want to go for every little added HP you can get.BTW i think my (300$US)Greddy cat-back Exhaust would fit your car, from what i can see the I4 has the same exhaust brakets and linbe going from the cat.Remember my exhaust is worth 600+$ new so its a good deal.

The way i went was i found a used civic intake pipe and then just start cutting to fit into the intake of the 5sfe its pretty straight forward and easy to do it cost me less than $80.00 canadian for the whole thing including a brandnew airfilter i am currently using an akimoto airfilter which is basically K&N so it shouldnt be a problem for you to find the piping and to use as a support dont remove the bottom half of your airbox that is the main support u can use ... or u can do what i did i went to home depot and bought some metal brackets so i can use those as supports as well.. make sure u buy new silicone connectors for the throttle body in case u are buying a used civic intake... oh yeah the model year u should be looking at are the 93's or so... they're the short ones... good luck

My intake is a drop in filter, it just about $70-80 Canadian! I can't say it increase a lot of power, but it very good and the sound is not that loud!

I made my own CAI (cold air intake). All of the parts cost me about $70 - $80.

Checkout the link below:

http://www.teamdelsol.com/howto/coldair/diycoldair.htm

The pic below shows a WeaponR filter, but I now have a K&N filter.
