bigger rims on camry?

hi. i own a '97 camry (4th gen i think?). i'm thinking about buying some 17"s. me and my dad have been arguing about the possibilities of putting 17"s on without any problems. he says the tires will rub against the wheel wells. i've heard you can go as big as 19"s without problems. who is right? if i do get 17"s, what lowering springs do you guys prefer? thanks.

If you want 17's. I have two sets for you to choose from. If 17's worked for my Camry, why wouldn't it work for yours?

you can mount 17's with no problems, but once you go pass 20's then you need to do some work.

We carry rims/tires up to 23's

I also own a 97' Camry V6 with TRD wheels, 225x45x17 tires and tokico struts with TRD springs. Don't worry about the rubbing.

It can take 20's the 2-4 Gens and the Gen 5 can go up to 22's as far as I know, I haven't had anybody as for 23's but a buddy of mines thro some on when the 5Gs first came out

20's won't fit
19 barely but maybe 0.5 % of them out there as anything over 8.5 inch width WILL rub unless you raise the car and do major body work
my 18's on my es work fine no rub
get the right offset as i do know someone with 17 inch arelli assasins and the lip on the quater panel eats the edge of his tires he had to shave them

you can go with 18x7.5 with no problems. that's what i have. it's not the height of the tire, but the width that you have to worry about. i saw a camry on cardomain with 20's on his 4th gen. a little too big for my taste but he got them to work. props to that guy!!
