cv boot leaking+what engine oil and sparkplus to get?

the title pretty much says it all. on my Gen 2 (4cyl) on the left hand side the cv boot is leaking a bit. is this a problem? is the car likely to suffer?

also what are the best sparkplugs and engine oil to use?

If its leaking the cv boot is torn. You should get it fixed asap.

You can replace the boot and repack it with grease (if the joint is in good condition) or replace the entire axle.

Sparkplugs - I use Denso or NGK.

Oil - I use Castrol or Vavoline 10W30.

yah to take a cv out it does have to be removed from either end
as you have to slide the old one off and a new one on
i am unsure how it is leaking as they are usually packed with a heavy grease?

Replacing the CV boot on Camrys is not easy. I just lowered my car this past weekend and when i finished and took it for a spin, i noticed the inside of my rim was covered in oil. So i had to jack it back up and replace the CV boot. This was not an easy project. I had harder of a time replacing the boot then i did putting on my springs, struts, and rotors.
If i notice my other boots leaking or needing to be changed, i think i am just going to have someone do it. But its your call.

its not that hard of a job as long as you know what your doing. the shaft doesnt have to be removed. its some times a little easier to work on with it off but if yours is the bolt in type it is a big pain. all you have to do is seperate the joint from the shaft. and take off the boot and slide the new one on and put the joint on. I will get the exact proceedure up by tomarrow.

I have my GEN3 V6 changed CV boots about 5 months. The mechanic in the dealer told me that CV boots find leaking should replace asap. One reason, prevent the damage on the baring inside. The CV boots are expensive, two new boots cost me 120 bucks~ if replace the whole axle in the dealer, it will be even more~
