I think the argument is hands down for the Camry. Camry from what I have seen from the many Camry/Avalon drivers can get more miles on it with less problems and more original parts than any other car I have ever seen. I do not understand why Accords have such high resale value. I know a lot of people who have Accords...old and new, as far back as 1994, and they have had problems with A/C most notably with the big items like transmissions at 60K at 100K, etc. I just don't see where these cars are so incredibly reliable that they demand such high resale value I would buy another Toyota hands down, I know people with 250,000 and above 300,000 miles on their Toyota with the original engine and transmission...now THAT is a testament to durability! Also on a side note, I think mitsubishi as well as Nissan build very durable, reliable, long lasting vehicles as well, let me know what u guys think!?!?
Honda's are more performance tuned than toyotas, running higher RPMs and such. I would imagine spinning a car up to 6-7000 RPM alot would make for more maintenance requirements.

I've always thought the same thing - Hondas have ridiculously high KBB values compared to Toyota. Hondas just come out with overall better looking cars than Toyota, so that is probably what makes them more desireable..
First off, this forum will surely favor the Toyota Camry. I'm sure the Honda forums will favor the Accord. I also agree with you that the Camry is a more reliable car, however, I do not have any statistics or data to back up my statement. I just know what I know from experience and reading.

Simple answer, toyota makes awesome i4 and v6's. Honda makes awesome i4's (their v6's are coming up...but the reliability on i4's is top notch, better than toyota). Hence, their overall values are up there.
I would buy a i4 accord or a v6 camry!
Having owned both and driven both extensively I would have to say, in an unbiased opinion, that the Honda Accord is the more reliable car. Simply put, the 98 Camry deteriorated and had more expensive problems than the 99 Accord that was equipped the same way. In my family, that is,
I've owned 2 Camrys and 4 Honda Accords. The failed transmission, bad oil pump, and warped brake rotors on my last Camry (10 years ago) was the reason I switched to Honda. Aside from a seat belt buckle recall on the '96 Accord, haven't had any reason to return to the dealer for repairs on ANY of the Accords. The good resale value was just another reason to stay in the Honda camp.
Now that I'm in the market for a new car, the reports of engine sludge problems on recent Toyotas, Avalon quality issues, and transmission failures on the '07 V6 Camrys are really not encouraging me to give Toyota another try, as attractive as the new Camry appears to be. Maybe I'd feel different if my Hondas had failed me; but they haven't.
I guess the moral of this story is, your loyalty to a manufacturer is as good as your past experience has been. GM is learned this lesson the hard way; now it may be Toyota's turn.
Were all your cars bought new? If they were used, you have no way of knowing that the previous owner did (or didnt do) to their cars, so failures related to trannies may be due to abuse and or lack of maintenance

I'm currently driving a 90 Honda Accord, and I'd have to say, it still runs great. No engine problems, or transmission problems. The only thing I've had to take in for maintenance were parts that are given to wear out, such as breaks, timing belt, master cylinder, etc. One thing I hate about it though was the fault oil-pan design. But other than that, the car still runs great compared to another 89' Toyota Camry (my cousin's) which has probably been scrapped years ago. It was a V6 and yet it lost tremendous power, compared to mine, which is an I4.
However, this weekend, I'm in the market for an 07' Camry LE I4. My mom drives an '03 Toyota Camry, and I rather like the way it drives. Plus I've always had a thing for Toyota's
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with both manufacturers, and I'd personally say I'm split on this one.
id have to go with the camry. my mom had one for a long time, no problems at all. it was a 99. and now i have a 94 and it runs like new and the interior is perfect. its just a good lookin car lol.

I bought my dad a 2003 V6 Camry brand new, and for myself, I opted for the 2004 Accord I4. Simply put, the Accord is 10x more sportier than the Camry, especially with the suspension. I couldn't bear to drive my dad's boat of a car (but I love Camries, don't get me wrong).
If you want a solid car, get a Camry. If you want a solid car with a bit of performance and something more stylish, get an Accord.
BTW Accord I4 > Camry I4 (no one can beat Honda I4's, best in the market
Camry V6 > Accord V6 (torque much greater in Camry)
