well to day i got the afternoon off. so i decided to clean my throttle body i got a can for throttle body cleaner at Oriely. first my car idles at 500rpms which is low for a 2001 I4 camry. well i took off my intake, and saw a butterfly value so i start to spray it alittle, then opened it up and sprayed it some more. then i put my intake pipe back on and turned it on was little rough then it ran fine after 1 min the Check engine light kicked on.
is there anyway to reset it or wtf could be going on?
i did use the search just guess i SUCK at it.... but what all could it be just from throttle body cleaner... im afried to drive it now and have it towed too a shop.
Weird that the CEL came on after a clean. Did you forget to reconnect something like that MAP sensor? Perhaps the cleaner killed the O2 sensor? Id get the code pulled first from an Autozone so you know what its talking about. Resetting is like turning a blind eye to it.

ima go back and check everythign twice but im sure nottin is missing cause hte motor is quiet like it used too be... so im just freaking out... this is the last time im doing anything on this motor
update: reset it hoping it would go off if there was the problem again so i drove it through a country road round my house. and first was kinda shitty when i was at a stop sign i was at 400RPM idle.... then after i drove it for a few it went too 550-600RPMS at another stop sign and no cEL??? err... i still have to have it checked im sure. but is this wiered or normal?
i had similar trouble after cleaning the TB in my cressida. excess cleaner had collected in the manifold and around the ports, caising misfiring and rich conditions. ran like poo and smoked like a magic show for a few minutes w/ CEL. some revving and a minute or 2 and it ran OK so i pulled and reset hte codes (lean, rich, and misfire) and it was fine after that.

^ What he said, it could be a misfire, change your plugs.... its common, at our shop when we do Fuel injection cleaning and the TB cleaning , spark plugs probably need to be replaced on most of them becuase shit always gets in them.

well i just got the spark plugs less then 2K miles uradium? suppose to be good... and NGK wiring at the same time. I KNOW i have to change my oil very soon and some other fluids
well after all this was done my idle is still low around 550-600 anyway to get it higher?
i have a V6 and i had this exact same problem. I had to loosen the screws on my throttle position sensor, and then you can rotate the valve and it changes the idle. (i think i knocked it out when i jammed the butterfly open with a screwdriver to clean it - but this fixed it).
Like i said i have the V6 so not totally sure this works on yours, but worth a try. (Arrow = adjust what this sensor plugs into! No pic of sensor available)
