My sister in law has worked for them for years. Her and my brother are in VA. I have State Farm personally but from what I understand Geico is a pretty reliable insurance outfit

I go through my Sister in Law. She works at an Independant Agency and she got me GRANGE Ins. I have full collision (Broad) on my Park Ave and my 07 Camry for $1200.00/year.

my friend works for farmers. I insured my house, camry(full), 2 vans(liab) for $174/month. I have to do electronic fund transfer and buy a $6/month life ins. in order to qualify for that. I think it is a good deal. He even adviced me on how much coverage i need on that car.
Shop around. geico or progressive are not always the cheapest.

I have Geico. My aunt was rear-ended twice (both times it was the other person's fault) and Geico handled her claim quickly and she was satisfied. The rental they got her was an '05 Accord (this was last year) - they didn't stick her in a Kia Rio or anything crappy like that.

I pay $1150/year for full coverage. Keep in mind I'm still under 21 so my rates are quite high

I'm 21 and I have full coverage on my '07 SE V6 with Amica for $900 a year, I'm still under my parents policy. If I would have put the policy under my name it would have been $3800 a year. Keep in mind that Colorado has some of the highest insurance rates in the country, and 1 in 3 drivers here is uninsured... in my previous car ('97 Nissan Altima SE) I was hit 3 times and all 3 times the drivers were uninsured, thank god I have uninsured motorist as a part of my policy.

I would disagree. The best, as rated by CR for years (and personal experience) is Erie for the general public, and USAA for those who qualify.

Before we start throwing around insurance premium costs, they need to be qualified. Age/Sex/Location/Coverages/Deductibles, etc...

As for the homeowners policy, not an apples to apples barometer since it is based on the homes value/replacement cost. The average cost is currently about $677/year for a decent policy from a reputable company. Of course, this will be dependant on the value of your home. You might insure a shanty in Oregon for $100/year while a $650k home in DC Metro will run you more like $750/year.

I have everything insured with State Farm, so I get a discount. The Homeowners is payed by my mortage company! My Autos, Two Drivers, accident free for the past 3 yrs is 998 every 6 months full coverage 250 deductable 3 vehicles. 03 Silverado,04 Accord, and the 96 Camry!
BTW..the drivers ages are 51 and 44. There are some crazy ass drivers here in Richmond Virginia, so I'm OK with the rate I'm getting.
I've heard bad stories about geico, they get ya in with lower rates, then raise them 50% the first claim you have. /Tho I have to admitt they did treat my Daughter (23) pretty well, with her "mishaps", she pays 1200 a year for a 96 Camry Sedan.(Full coverage I'm told) Shes had Geico since she started driving at age 16..she's also on her mothers (ex wife) policy. I could only guess, what it would be if she had it on her own!

wow... you got a good deal there! i have to pay $2400/year and i'm 21 with no tickets and had my license for five years , but i havent been driving for a couple of years. the thing is the insurance is under me and my sister and i don't have someone older to put my name under. bad thing is my sister, 23, got a speeding ticket two years ago so i think that might be why my insurance is much higher. i'm considering getting a junk car to put her name on there and hopefully that'll save me some money. i've already contact farmer about this additional junk car. currently, they want me to pay $1700 for 6 months where as geico quote me $1200. i'm considering switching insurance. what do you guys think, any suggestion is welcome?

I'm married and 26 years old. I pay about $250 for 6 months for my 07 V6 and $250 for 6 months for my 05 I4. I have full coverage and $500 deductible I believe (never have had a claim in 10+ years of driving).

Er, Uh. No. You pay your homeowners and should be very aware of the cost. Your mortgage company is probably (unless it is Navy Federal Credit Union) making money by keeping the interest earned on your escrow account balance. Just because they pay the insurance and taxes out of your escrow, it is your money and you should be very aware of the specifics. Personally, I refuse to have an escrow that doesn't benefit me (interest returned to me). If I wasn't with Navy Fed, who does pay me the interest earned on my money, I would not have an escrow account and pay the insurance and taxes directly.

As for car insurance, I pay $1200/year for a 2005 Sienna XLE LTD and my 2007 Camry SE V6, both with full coverages even though they are paid for, plus rental/towing/glass coverage and $250 deductibles. I currently have Erie, because USAA wouldn't write my homeowners based on having a certain breed of dog in the home.
