Canada Camry quits in reverse

Hey and thanks in advance,

My 1995 Camry LE has quit while in reverse twice in the last month.

The first time I was backing out of the drive when it quit, without notice.
I couldn't start it and had it towed to the dealer. They had it for two days because they couln't find a problem. They gave it back no charge.

Well today it quit again, same place as I was backing up and again it was hard to start but it did eventually.

I have tried tonight to duplicate it a dozen times and it never fails.

The tach reads about 900 in park and 7-800 in reverse (without A.C ON).

Any ideas on what I should do to correct this? My wife drives it too and I don't want her stranded.

I talked to the dealer agian today and they have no solution until it quits altogether....errrrrr
don't really want to wait for that...
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Thanks Folken

does it do it on hot start and cold start or does it do it more on the hot than the cold, vice versa?

First of all, are you 100% sure it only quits in reverse. What I'm getting at is... when I drive home at night I park my car in the garage. The next morning I obviously have to reverse to get out.

So, what happens if you back up your car in the garage and then next morning, start the car, and pull out of the garage, does it stall?

It seems kinda odd that it only happens in reverse, as the gears shouldn't really make a difference when it comes to stalling.

yeah, it's happened twice and both times it was in the morning when backing out of the driveway. I have tried to duplicate it, reverse, forward etc. but to no avail. I'm just waiting for it to happen again as the dealer has no solution until it quits permanently.....
....tks Folken

Same problem happened to my customer. When the car was placed in gear, a strain was put on the wire harness, as a result, one poorly connected terminal was pulled off, resulting in engine stall.
Start the engine and move wire harness to check for loose connections, etc.

This is a thick wire bundle, that runs parallel fo the fuel rail between intake plenum and valve cover, one end of it goes trough the firewall, other branches out to electrical components.
