On cars with dash board light trouble indicator systems, I found light bulb socket corrosion and intermediate contact were often the problem. I end up checking and cleaning the bulb terminals and in some cases replacing them. With your bulbs powered, wiggle them if possible and check for intermediate contact. Remove bulbs and look for terminal corrosion. It just takes a monemtary power contact loss to trigger the light indicator circuit. Terminal corrosion can also increase resistance in the electrical circuit, triggering the indicator light. You could also have a loose or bad wire. It normally only takes one bad terminal, wire, etc. to trigger the system.

Carefully check the lights in the trunk lid.
On my gen4, I found that the wires for the lights in the trunklid had broken from the flexing that the wiring goes through each time the trunk is opened and closed. The bulbs might be all good, but make sure they are actually lighting up. (they are parking lights only, not brake lights, so you do not need someone in the car to hit the brakes.

Also, make sure you have the correct bulbs in the sockets you replaced. That might cause a problem, as well. (It may fit, but not necessarily be the right bulb). Make sure everything is lighting up as it should.
