4th Generation 99 cluster poping fuse

K like it states heres the problem 99 carmy 4cly all pwr options 55,XXXmiles

everytime i push in the brake and go to put the car in reverse drive or any other gear it pops the instrment panel fuse. i have no clue what is causing it to blow so im asking for some advise on where to start looking for a short. or if anyone else has had this problem before.

I'd look for a short in the brake light wiring, or the backup switch reverse lights. If you trace the wires i think you may find the insulation rubbed away somewhere.
To test this i would pull the fuse to the brake lights first, to test it, and then the backup switch after that one at a time. And see if the panel light fuse does not blow. When you find which circuit is doing it, at least you know where to start looking. Naturally you dont wanna drive around with no brake lights, obviously.
