Maybe the key is too worn, try another key; and shoot a little lube in there too. Maybe some quick fix but you need to change the switch i think. Maybe dismantle to column and lube the switch, or loosen its screws and wiggle it some. If you can just get a new switch and change it. These are problemtic sometimes the only way to move a broken switch is to use force...

If it's just that the key is worn out, then the dealer can cut a new key without using a duplicate. All they need is proof you own car and then they can get from Toyota the key code to make a new key. I did this on my since departed 95 Camry.

Muddasir this is the best i can do without seeing it...an exploded drawing paste from the shop manuals in this forum. They have one for your car its in the stickies when you sign on. http://www.**********s.com/camry/
Just in case your steering column has to come apart some to fix this.

Thanx man

Infact, I was reading the same thing. Do you think, If I follow all the instructions, I would bypass steering lock for later on?

What?

Are you saying that your steering wheel is locked and you can't get the car to turn on? You have to pull it in one direction while turning the key to unlock it. Jon.

Before you start taking the car apart, have the dealer make a new key based on your lock number. A good locksmith shop should also be able to make a key from the number on a door lock. I have many keys for my Camry, some work, others don't. Some only work in certain locks. They do wear out! Making a new key from a worn out key (which may work) can result in a key that does not work at all.
