should i replace my coolant temperature sensors they both have 198,000 miles on it or should i wait ?

The plastic part of it usually getting brittle with temperature/aging. Mileage has little to do with these parts. If their color is original, there is nothing to worry. If the color is faded, it is a good idea to get some spare sensors/connector plugs..

Colour has NOTHING to do with it!

Get out your multimeter and TEST the sensors. Make sure they are within the resistive range for the given temprature. That will tell you if they NEED replacing.

Faded color means plastic desintegration. If the sensor is accidentally hit with the tool it may break easy. If not touched, it will work long time even faded.
However, I saw several customers who came with strange problems after distributor cap or coolant hoses replacements, done by careless technicians.
So I made a rule to keep on the shelf some good used sensors, in case above mentioned happens.

i found a lot of corrosion on my temperature sensor, you guys might want to check to see if your is corroded or not to make sure it's performing to spec
