3rd Generation Leaking Windshield

The pervious owner of my Gen 3.5 Camry replaced the windshield due to flying pebbles and the mechanics didn't do a good job on sealing it. Now, it'll leak whenever there's rain.

I ask the same mechanics that did the windshield job how much does it cost to reseal the windshield and they told me they can't do that. They said the only time they do the sealing is replacing windshield.

This is some kind of BS? Thanks

No, I don't think that you need to replace the winshield just to re seal it. I had a leak in mine and it was from the top of the windshiled. All i did was go the my local auto parts store and buy some of that Permatex wind shield silicone stuff, this glue is specially made for this kind of stuff. So when i got home i just unscrewed the crews that are on the pillar side of the window(with door open and pull the whole long metal pice. look around to see if you can find the leak. God luck.

I did used a whole bunch of silicon sealant over the laek area. It helped a little but I still have leak from windshield. That's why I went to the mechanics to have them properly reseal.

Find a different glass company. I would never go back to a shop that I thought screwed up the first time.

One thing to consider is a possible rust problem around the leak area. When windshields are removed, they scrape the old sealant off, so there might be possble bare metal showing.

If your glass deductible is not too high, maybe consider replacing it...?

I decided long time ago not to go back to that shop again; I just went back there to heard what they have to said for themselves.

Pervious owner did the repair and I don't have the receipt so I don't know what kind of warranty they have on the job.

Rust already formed on that area and the fabrics underneath that are also turned to rusty color.
