Newbie Toyota maintenence advice
After driving Saabs for 20 years... but, I have seen the light and am the new owner of a 1995 Camry 2.2 automatic California Emissions 95,000miles.
I have found this forum to be a great resource to get myself upto speed on the maintenence of this vehicle.
I now have a few questions.
1. I will be replacing a leaky valve cover gasket. The Chilton manual mentions silicone packing points that might need replacing. What is a good product to use? Would Prematex Ultra blue work or would Ultra Grey be better?
2. I have a leaky tranny pan gasket so I figure I will replace the gasket and filter. I have ECT... will there be wires to disconnect?
Also... is a fluid flush possible on this car... or is it needed? Any
opinions as to using synthetic ATF?
3. Should I drain and replace the transfer case oil? If so, any opinions onusing synthetic gear oil?
4. I have a leaky distributer o-ring. I assume that as long as I don't move the engine, I can mark the distributer ( for timing), remove the distributer, replace the o-ring and reinstall it witjout much trouble. I would then recheck the timing. Am I missing something?
5. I have NO IDEA how the car was maintained oil wise... should I use an engine flush treatment? If so... which one is good?
Thanks for all the help!
