Additional Lighter Outlet Question

Hey guys, I wanted to permanently install an additional cigarette lighter outlet. I will cut a space and fit it in the dash, that is not an issue, the problem would be the location to wire it to. Can I splice the connection behind the existing cigarette lighter or would that not provide enough power? The two things that I will be powering are an ipod and a cell phone. Any suggestions?

splicing into the existing connection is probably sufficient. a cellphone and ipod are hardly power hungry devices

Thanks LE05, I will probably splice into the back then. Xet, that would be much easier, but I'd rather go with the cleaner look and install it. Thanks for the idea though.
