Canada 6 speed transmission

Dumb question

when using the new 6 speed transmission in the 2007 Camry SE V6....at what speed would you start shifting upwards starting in first gear

ie 0-30 kph 1st

30-60 kph 2nd..........and so on

any suggestions?

Canada Shifting the AT

Hi James;
Yes, it is kinda a dumb question(only kidding!), but you do not gauge when you shift on the basis of the speed of the car BUT on the RPMs! Full trottle would mean shifting some where around 6200RPM (redline).
Hope this helps;

depends on how quickly you want to accelerate. plus if youre not accelerating too quickly, you can also skip shift (shift from 1st to 3rd) so you dont have to shift as much.

depends how much gas you wanna save also... shifting @ 3k is gonna waste more gas than @ 2k but it'll get u there faster heehhehe... i use this rule of thumb..
0-19 1st gear
20-29 2nd gear you get the idea

Dude, the transmission is in AUTOMATIC. It shifts for you. Sorry.

Really just watch the tach or listen to the engine, and guage by how you drive. I've never driven an automatic with the autostick or whatever, personally I don't see the point in those. But in my car with a 5 spd I shift around 2300 rpm if i'm in no hurry, anywhere up to 4200 rpm if i'm in a hurry. I've never revved my engine too high ... I guess i'm a wuss that way.
