Trying to save a few dollars on labor, I had my friend cum mechanic install couple of Monroe struts on my 94 v6. He didn't install the dust boots or the bump stops. He said they are not needed. Is he right? Do I need to take'em apart and install these again? Thanks.

tell your friend not to "cum" on your suspension

and yes they are needed, the boots keep dirt and debris from collecting on the shaft of your strut, which could scratch the shaft and ruin them

. Yeah id put them boots back on, it could mean the difference between 100,000 miles and 30,000.
You can do it yourself, you just need the spring compressors which you can get from harbor freight for peanuts. And some respect for them springs, cause if they pop loose at the wrong time they could half kill ya

Its not hard, you could do it and the labor cost easily pays for the tool. I've done it, more than once, and you can too.
