Vsc

I see some people have the VSC on there signature. For those who purchased there car with the VSC option is it really necessary. I was talking to a dealer one time and he said it was a waste of money. Yup, I was shocked too when he said that.

VSC is a safety feature - I don't think any safety feature is ever a waste of money. In fact, when I bought my car, I made it clear that all the safety features be put on there; everything else can be negotiated later. I wish all toyota cars came with that standard (like all toyota SUVs do).

But to answer your question, I don't think its absolutely necessary (just as ABS and side curtain airbags are) as long as you drive carefully, put plenty of distance between yourself and other cars, and take turns with more caution (and slower too). But hey, nobody can predict what's around the corner, so having it really gives me peace of mind more than anything else.

But it is packaged with TC that is more useful in snow/ice driving.
