Gen5 Cheaper? I need to Vent

Man, was I boredSo, I rented a new 2005 Camry LE (Same options as my 02 LE Same Color also) I was not impressed. It somehow felt smaller, and cheaper. The ride was not any smoother than my 02, the speakers lacked Bass punch (Both stock) and the material just felt . The seats felt stiffer, and the trunk felt heavier. But, There are a few things I like about the rental. Steering wheel Mounted Controls, Auto Headlamps, Optitron meters, and the centre console.

Oh yeah, by the way. My fav song came on, and I just turned it up like I do in my Gen 5, and almost busted a speaker. How can they be so cheap!!!

I just want to know, HOW DO YOU GEN 5.5 OWNERS DEAL WITH IT!

^ yup. chances are, somebody has already blown the speakers. not to mention wrecked the suspension, engine, plus its probably sat in the sun all day everday slowly destroying the interior. I like the GEN 5, I find it very nice to drive. (we have a fleet full at work)

Don't know what your talking about but I like my Gen 5.5 over my dad's Gen 5. Interior and all looks better and it feels better when I drive my Gen 5.5 compared to my dad's Gen 5. It's probably because it's a rental. Who knows what they did to it.

Yeah, I have to agree. I have a 2005 Se and my father-in-law has a 2002 SE, granted he has more miles (like 50,000 more) but I feel mine is quieter and smotther and less cheap feeling than his is. That is switching right from one to other - both have been very well maintained, I can just tell his has aged a little and mine has a nicer interrior.

interesting how everybody's observations are biased towards their own cars.....

they all feel the same

the only time you'll feel the real difference is if you drive the 4banger and then the v6, and the 6 is noticeably quiter- or you drive the se and then a 4banger le, and the se is noticeably stiffer suspension

yeah well, I drive both cars regulary just to maintain my dad's as well. He doesn't really maintain his car that well. He already got in two major accidents already, one where he ran over a fire hydrant. DOn't ask how he did it, he's lucky he didn't get caught from the cops at the scene. Amazingly, water didn't get inside his engine. LoL.

His steering wheel squeaks sometimes when turning, so shows that his car is indeed showing age.

A car with 70,000+ miles on it, will not always feel the same as car with 15,000 miles on it. so, no, they do not all feel the same.

You don't have to worry about that. That car will be a "hand-me-down" to my younger brother.

No, look. Brand new, off the truck. Never used. From the Toyota Dealer. No! Fresh from the Factory. Still felt cheaper.

You must have a weird perception of reality because when i still had my 02 Camry i test drove an 06 Camry and the 06 Camry felt and looked a lot better inside and out.

When was this, where would u find a brand new 2005? Not 2007, not 2006, but brand new 2005? U rented this 2 - 3 years ago then.

No, some dealer down in south Ga transported it. They were holding it for some odd reason.

IMO, the Gen 5.5 Camry looks better on the inside than the Gen 5 but not really the exterior. Sure, they made it look slightly more upscale with the headlights and tails but they made it look "older". By this I mean, the Gen 5.5's exterior appealed less to young people than its predecessor. One of my neighbor has a black 5.5 loaded and looks clean as hell when it is washed and waxed but I could not completely picture myself in one. (No disrespect to any 5.5 owners on this forum.)
