Wrong oil filter installed!!!

During my last oil change i found out that i drove 5000km on a wrong oil filter I have a 97 V6 but i was changin oil yesterday and mechanic told me that someone put in filter for i4 engine. Well it happened because of my own stupidity, i just went to a random mechanic a month ago because i was about to go for a long trip and my mechanic was on vacation.

I wonder if it did any damage to the engine?

If oil didn't leak out all over, and your engine is still going as well as it did before the filter mistake, then I would think you're ok.

The I4 maybe a smaller filter and it plug up faster.
To be save, take it out and put in correct one. You don't need an oil change to do that.

seen plenty of 4 cylinder oil filters on V6's, not a big deal, it still sealed the oil from running out so its fine

as what others stated. I use a imzfe filter on my 5sfe, its taller and has the same diameter and costs the same.
