4th Generation TRD Supercharger performance?

I have a gen 4 camry le v6 auto, and I was wondering how many horses does the trd supercharger really add? And from people who have one, is it really worth the 2.5k+? Do you get good performance out of it for that price?

You go and get a 75 HP shot of Nitrous for less than half the price and you'll get more power than with the Supercharger...

The supercharger is extremely hard to find nowadays....

Yes, but you can't leave your nitrous running all the time.

Opinion

I have the S/C on my 99 V6 5-speed and I've driven the V6 autos with S/C. It's not worth it on an automatic. Jon.

What are U talking about..??

No matter if your car is M/T or A/T, a S/C is always worth it...

You will definitely feel more the power on the M/T car, but it's still worth it..

But, as I said, they are extremely hard to find today...

True, but when do U use the power of a S/C..?? When you're racing someone... So, in the end, same thing...

Question

How many manual or automatic, Camry or Solara, with Superchargers have YOU driven? I've driven my own 2 (Camry and Solara, both manual, both Supercharged) as well as an automatic Supercharged Solara and Camry. You can't truly advise on the worthiness of a supercharger if you haven't driven or owned one yourself. Jon.

Just because the power increase is more noticeable on the manual than in the automatic, it doesn't mean it's not worth it...

You don't have to drive the cars to know that...

haha actually Jon makes a good point...

someone posted dynos of an automatic on here once, and it showed he had almost a 45% decrease in power from the automatic transmission. It was pretty sad to see.

So if you had to pay a good 2,500 dollars. I would say that supercharger is DEFINATLY not worth it. Not to mention you can practically get a Turbo for that. Not for a camry I guess though since a bunch of custom shit has to be made. But its money in the right direction in my opinion.

True That

My manual Solara non-supercharged felt faster than an automatic Solara supercharged. Pretty disappointing. If I had an automatic I would just focus on exterior. Some nice tint, 18s (no lip) on a 225/40 18 and a nice drop, either using Solara springs or a coilover system of some sorts? Jon.

Its not worth the price for a gen4. Unless you built it to push out some serious numbers.

I think that was phi's car- but his car never ran that great for some reason, and he never tuned it

and getting an s/c for an automatically is still well worth it- fi is worth it on any car, and if somebody wants to dispute, then talk to tony

and jon- I'm sure that your 5spds are faster than an auto, but if you were putting down the same amount of power to the wheels as an auto, then you'd probably be slower unless you were an incredible driver- and the funny thing is that you'd feel like you're going faster in the 5spd even while the auto wins

I also posted my dyno awhile ago, and I got much better numbers than Phi.

My dyno was 220whp / 200wtq I believe with the sc, exhaust and an intake. I'm gonna see if I can dig up the graph.

*EDIT* heres the thread -> http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t25961.html

Pictures are gone, no idea where they were hosted...don't have them on my comp either, if anyone has them saved, send em this way

SC is better than Nitrious because there is no on-going costs with the SC. All you need is air.

Sometimes I wish I had a GEN4 so I could use the SC, and Eye8 is right. Manuals always feel quicker even when they are not.

In any case, forced induction will always be better than NA. Up to the individual if they think its worth the money.

what about turbo on automatics is the same disappointment as in sc or is it less of a disappointment with turbo on automatic?
