So I visited another Toyota dealer today to get a quote and a test drive. He quoted me a price of $20,400. He had told my brother come in we can do better but when we got there he didnt drop it anymore. I figure he wanted to get you in there. So I was going thru the features I wanted, and he said people who have the VIP system were complaining they were having problems. I ask what kind of problems then he stutter a little before he gave me an answer. He said the alarm keeps going off by itself and alot of people were complaining about it. He also said not get the glass breakage sensor cause if you touch it, a garbage truck makes alot of noise it would go off. He was talking me out of getting it. The alarm system he was trying to sell me was $450 or so in price. Has anyone experience this problem with the standard VIP system alarm.

Seems I saw somewhere that they have halted selling the VIP for now until the issues are worked out. I don't know what the issues are nor do I have one.

I've had mine over two months and no problems. Mine has the remote start. I don't know if that makes a difference?
That's BS. I wouldn't go back to that dealer. If there are any problems with the VIP, it's when the dealer trys to install it and he doesn't know what he's doing. The glass breakage sensor will not go off because of a garbage truck. He didn't know what he was talking about.

Someone on here had a HELL OF A TIME with this. Don't recall who though.
I can't remember the specifics on whatever it was that I saw with them pulling it for the time being. It could be that they've ironed it out.
I don't recall when or where I read it at and therefore can't really defend my statement on it but I think I was clear that I was a little hazy about it. Really just trying to say that they may not complete dicksmack liars like already mentioned.
If you have the system, please provide more testimonials. I just double checked my numbers on the paper and he said $495 not $450 (sorry). I guess he was trying to make a quick sale and have me upgrade the system. In regards to the glass breakage sensor, he said if a leave falls on the glass it would go off cause it was that sensitive. Does anyone has the glass breakage sensor and what is your opinion?
The glass breakage sensor is not that sensitive. To test it (according to the book), you take your key and rap in the center of the driver's side or passenger widow to see if it works. With mine, you really had to hit hard to get it to go off. There even is an adjustment for it's sensitivity that the service department can set. The guy at your dealer just plain doesn't know what he's talking about. If there's another dealer in your area, try them.

Our factory produces the glass break sensor for camry and avalons. If there was a issue with the product, we should have heard about it. As for the glass break break sensitivity, it is user adjustable.

Where is the glass breakage sensor adjustment located?
My glass break sensor doen't go off either. I took it to the dealer and supoidly they adjusted it to be the most sensitive, but it still doesn't go off. The guy said the glass has to be broken, DA why an adjustment then. On the service papers it says "removed glove box to adjust sensor" So I guess I'll try and remove the box and readjust. Read on a Tacoma forum adjustment is from 1-12 with 12 the highest sesitivity. My book says to tap with light to moserate force. Any other info for me would be appreciated. fhoegler43@mybluelight.com
