Key code

How can I obtain the key code for my vehicle if I needed to have the dealer cut a key?

The dealer can get it from your VIN. They take the VIN and send it over the internet to Toyota and in-turn Toyota sends the dealer the code. You will have to prove to the dealer that you own the vehicle.

if the toyota was bought from your dealers region it should be in their dealerportal software and they can retrieve it, if not then you can call toyotas 1-800 number and they will get your vin, then release your key code to the dealership of your preference!

Man!! my key worned out and I went to toyota dealer. They made me replace my whole ignition cylinder, as according to them, they only keep key codes for last 5 years.

What is the phone number to access this?
What else is accessible by inputting the vin into the software?
I really think that this keycode is a darn good idea to either know off hand or to have readily available in an emergency situation.
