Im thinking about buying a McCulloch 8000k HID Kit in 9006 series. In the future will I be able to upgrade to projectors but getting a different bulb (DS2)?
Let me know
Thanks.. and no this is not a discussion on will it blind you is it legal etc.
No. Save your money, 8000 K kits are purely for looks... unless thats what you're going for. You would be able to upgrade to projectors, but you may have to change/modify the wiring. You'd have to get a conversion harness for the OEM D2S bulbs, since McCulloch uses different connectors.
I would really recommend saving your money for a true retrofit: OEM projectors, ballasts, and 4300 K bulbs. You'll get the looks you want, plus performance... there's a reason why car manufacturers use 4300 K bulbs

, btw RedPheonix why was your car r.i.p. if you don't mind me asking.
lol. 8000K > My cool blues. Even though its for looks it does still emit more light than what i currently have. I dont want 4300k, too yellow, 6000k is too white for me, i would go 12000k but then it starts defeating the purpose of what i want. I dont see me getting projectors that soon, i need new lights, they are not cutting it.. i dunno, still undecided. buit then again.. projectors around $350, this is $300.. i already answered my question.. ha

Real 4300k (pure white) should have no yellow at all. The only way you'd get yellow from 4300k is if the projector you used put a hint of it at the cutoff line but the projector should put mostly blue at the cutoff line. 6000k should be bluish light. With those kits, the color temperatures are sometimes off from their actual values. Also you can get a pair of projectors for $99 (bmw e46) on hidplanet.com. They are pretty good projectors from what I've heard. Just my $.02.

actually, to add to what thapranksta said, you can get a complete OEM HID kit (bmw e46 projectors, hella gen3 ballasts, philips d2s 4300 K bulbs) for $400 shipped from hidplanet.com. Not too much more than that McCulloch kit... and definitley way better in terms of quality and performance.
red phoenix; yes u can change the bulbs from 9006 to D2S, As long as the connection plugs fits.
8000K HID is just Perfect (IMO), not that blue and bright. If you want it to be much brighter get the 4,300K or 6,000K. But right now im using 8,000K with projectors (retrofitted) and they're so nice and bright. goodluck!

You have any pictures of your beam? I want to see what it looks like with the 8000k. As far as brightness with 4300k and 6000k, I agree.
