I know this is just for cosmetics, but was thinking when I put my 18'' back on in the spring it might be a nice change. How hard is this to do ?? how is it done ?? where can the paint be found, how long does it really stay on ??
Thanks for anyones insight on this topic, who has done it before !

I wanted to do this too, but I got gen 2 v-6 rims for the spring... if youve ever seen them before you know they're not a very open design at all. So in my case it's not a practical idea. When you paint your calipers, hi-temp paint would help (like 1500º engine paint), and I would recommend a coat of white (again, hi-temp paint) before you paint them the color of your choice. If your calipers are a bit rusty, for example, and you painted them red without the white underneath, then your calipers would look a real ugly orange. I'd imagine that all you have to do is take the caliper off, take the pads off the caliper (so they dont get painted), do the necessary prep work (degreasing, sanding and such), and paint away. That's my $.02
when i did mine i cant remember what brand i used but it was only like 500 heat paint and i cleaned the calipers off real good with some kind of corosive shit my dad had, the we just lightly sprayed them back and forth a few times. They turned out real good.
their are spray cans but i think they are shyt
their is a company called fola tec
the make an actual paint you brush on
you lightly sand the calipers
wash them off
and then the kit comes with a brake wash spray
and a laquer and colour
this stuff is enough to do 2 cars so if you have a friend split it and get an extra set of jacks
it is about $50 and it is amazing it dryes looking like it is wet
a really nice base coat of blue ,red gold ,silver, black, and i think a couple others
with a top layer looking like 5 coats of clear on top
real nice look
it also washes off real easy with water so brake dust doesn't damage it or make it look old and dirty
like the spray cans
