Camry V.S. Camry ???

i know this guy who owns a 94 toyota camry V6 LE and i own a 92 toyota camry V6 SE and we both are planning on racing this weekend and i just wanted any comments on who you thikn would win the race because even though his car is 2 years newer i think its gona be a close race and i have heard that the SE's are better in drag than the LE because i heard "Camry SE's have better acceleration than LE's" but let me know what you think on the subject and ill let you know the results.

On paper, both cars are equal.

hey, if he's got a late 94 with the imz, it could make a diff....

but in the end, it'll come down to mileage on the engine, and how well they're maintained....

actually, on paper the 94 1MZ should win... by how much? not a lot. they are close, but the 94 1MZ is a higher output engine than the 92 3VZ... not to mention the 92 3VZ also has an extra 100lbs to lug during the race because of the iron block, over the aluminum block in the 94.

sorry to say, but assuming you both have healthy engines the 94 should win.

If you're gonna race, take it to the track.... safety first... always. Everyone knows somebody killed in a car accident and it's never right, especially if it can be avoided.

Buth there are a few last minute things you can do... at the track of course.

-Take out your spare tire, and jack, etc (people always forget that one)
-Take out the passenger seat
-oil change with synthetic oil (mobil1)
-run through some non-solvent based fuel injector cleaner (Redline SL1)
-replace your fuel filter if you haven't
-Throw some "Water Wetter" in your radiator
-Clean your throttle-body
-High flow filter/ Intake
-Clean the engine bay, it'll run cooler
-Make sure your tranny is in good shape, possiblty flush it
-Properly inflate the tires
-Lighter battery or relocate it (post on this not that long ago)
-Loose weight wherever possible

I AM NOT PROMOTING STREET RACING PLEASE GO TO THE TRACK.

good luck and be safe

ryan

I actually have experienced such a race. My 93 LE V6 vs. someone else's 9? LE V6. I have the 3VZ-FE, not sure what he had for an engine or mods, but it was a 6. The race was pretty even... he got a better start than me, but that was my own fault. He ended up winning as well. But yea.... I guess that wouldn't really help you, but I just felt like sharing.

Aren't the gear ratios of the SE different than normal camry ?

Anyway, the '96 Camry is Automatic

The parents of a friends of me got a '96 LE V6 and it seems to be pretty fast.. I was faster than my '97 XLE V6 but I never raced him since I got my '92 SE V6

I think it should be very close..

We will see this summer at the dragway or after the results of your race

as someone said before.....suspension setup, and gear ratios....faster 0-60 times....technically....but only by like, miniscule proportions....

assuming you have a manual transmission, you will most likely beat him, even if his engine puts out more power.

the difference is in gearing. with the manual, gear ratios are shorter allowing you to accelerate faster (5 gears instead of 4). also having the manual will help you off the line significantly.
