OK, i want to buy springs soon, but i dont what to spend a ton on istallation cast. So how do you put the springs on a camry, i've helped with other cars, but that was some time ago, so dont consider me to be experienced. I just was wondering if i were to do it at home, What would i need, and what steps would i have to do.
Specific tools would be nice.
If you are not comfortable doing it, pay a shop to install it. You'll need a spring compressor and some other basic mechanics tools to do the job, and another set of hand always helps. You'll have to remove parts of the rear deck to get to the rear struts also.
Most of my rear deck is already taken out, so thats not a problem, if i go with a shop whats the price they usually go for?
about 200 to 300 or am i aiming to high?
I was quoted about 300 before i decided to do it myself. The job isnt that hard if you have done it or seen it done before. See if you can find a friend to help you out if its your first time. It usually takes me about 4 hours to do a job, but i have gotten to the point its now under 2 because of my experiance.
soundlzrd, so how exactly do you get at the rear struts? This may be a long shot, but where do you live? My friend and i put in a diff cam in his car and there was a guy that he new form a forum that came to help, and see how things were going, just seeing if your anywere close. I have seen, and helped with an explorer, but that was some time ago, and i didnt do much of the work. If i had directions on the basics, i would tackle the project my self. But anyway were did you get your quote form, is there anywere else that may charge a reasonable amount less?
I don tknow of any shops that may do it cheaper. AS they said, the sturts are acessable under the rear deck. They drop out just like the fronts.
I live in ohio.
soundlzrd, this is outreach, but if i get springs soon and im sure that it wouldnt cast close to 300 dollars to get to ohio, that you could help me do them, just a shot in the dark. Just seeing if you could help me out any.
thats cool, but i dont have the springs yet, i would like to come down to meet both of you when you do your car, but im afraid that it will be difficault to make it on such short notice. Jon i take it that you live in ohio too?

By the way i live in Wisconsin, so it wont be that bad of drive depending on where in ohio you live, but its not that bad anyway. I could make it a road trip when i consider getting everything.
Sure, i can help. We could have a meet afterwards. Get everyone in ohio and surrounding areas to come chill and cruz. Now that the weather is better, that would be alot of fun.

yea sean lives mid ohio, around columbus, and i go to school in columbus. i live in southwest ohio though, south of dayton.
im guessing it might be like a 5/6 hr drive for you. unless things dont work out as planned (which they probably wont ), it could be as early as mid week when we do the install. chances are it will happen sometime during the week of the 23rd, shipping always seems to tack on a few extra days....
sounds good, only problem is that i am not ready to order yet, it may be a little while, but when i do i will post something on TN and let ya know. Then we can work on what else is going on with the invite and all. Sounds like alot of fun though, i will get my butt going on getting the springs though. I wont be able to make it as soon as mid week or even the 23rd probably. sorry But i will keep in touch with you both to let you know how things are going.
