3rd Generation Is my Idle Air Controller (IAC) good?

I took out my IAC to clean it yesterday and I noticed somthing strange. The closed position doesnt seem be be fully closed. When I apply a jumper to the leads it either opens all the way or closes half way. Anyone have any idea or pic of a fully open or fully closes IAC?

Thanks

The manual doesn't specify if it opens or closes fully, just that moves toward those directions when the appropriate pins are energized.

3rd Generation

You are right. It doesn't mention it so I went to the junkyard today to pull another one. It does rest in a semi-open position. Here are pics of the one I pulled:

You can see it very dirty so I will clean it like i cleaned the one on my car before I install it. i wont do what I did before and open the parts that are not supposed to be openned. Those screws with the yellow locktight on them aren't supposed to be openned or adjusted in anyway. Curiosity got he best of me the other day when I was cleaning.

DONT OPEN OR LOOSEN HERE

I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow.

I cleaned and installed the new IAC today. The car started right up and purred like a kitten. The idle was at 1100 rpm slide down to 500. The car was so quite i could barely tell it was running. No more shaking at idle either. I think i have solved my problem. The IAC was probably bad all along even though the ohms were ok and the unit responded to all the checks the manual stated. Im good now.
