'99 Camry LE: Loose Window Control Panel

The driver's side window control panel has gotten very loose. The screws in the door panel do not affect the window contol panel. Does anyone have information on how to tighten this down? Also, need information on how to remove the window control panel. Thanks in advance for your replies. Paul

Try the search function. Also, the full 97-99 camry manuals are on the site, take a look there.

hey paul,

removing the door panel is a pain cos of the interior door handle that is held together by clip ons.

to remove door panel.

Remove all the screws.
please remmeber that some screws are hidden or covered by buttons that go over the screws. So be patient and slowly remove all screws. Yanking and tugging will not help in removing screws. Approximately 10 screws + -

Then remove the slot a thin and rigid metal/screwdriver between the internal door handle and the door panel. There are 2 clip in that holds it together, one on the top and one on the bottom.
THen slot the door handle back towards the rear of the car.

You should be able to remove the door panel.

Then look at the issue with the Window control panel.

All the best

To get the window control panel out take a small flat screwdriver along the back of the panel (toward rear seat) and slide it between the armrest and the panel...there is a metal clip that attaches it to the armrest...catch it and push it in to help release it. When you get the back side coming up pull the panel back toward the rear seat ...the front of the panel has a long plastic tab that holds the front down so it will have to slide out from under the front part of the armrest area.

Hope you can understand what I mean....hard to explain without pics

Thanks everyone for your replies. Later on, I'll go out and take a look at this thing. Sounds like a clip is broken, causing the panel to be loose. Thanks again!

Thanks Southpawz, I was able to remove the window control panel and repair the rear metal clip. It was not hooking under the armrest. A screwdriver and a pair of pliers took care of the problem. Good as new! Thanks!
