I Can't Get Through to the Firewall! (Help - Pics Inside)

Hey guys... I have a 1994 Camry, and have been reading posts here about pushing the firewall through an existing hole which already exists under the driver's side spalsh guard. So today, I attempted by making a hole with a razor in the rubber piece next to the existing wires which go inside the car.

But the problem is, when the power wire from the ampflier started to go through...it just gets stuck and I can't get it through to the inside of the car so that I can route it to the back of the trunk. I have no idea what I am doing wrong or why it won't go through.

Here are the pics of what I tried doing, if anybody can help - greatly appreciated.

The smaller cable and one next to it make it through OK. You might try pushing something solid through like a coat hanger rod. Gently of course. See if it makes it to the other side. Check to see where it goes in and comes out. If OK, you can make this hole larger. If not, something very solid is in the way.

^ has the right idea.

I used a metal clothes hanger to thread it through. I first used the hanger to poke through all the rubber (with holes cut of course). Once the front end of the hanger was through, I duct tapped the other end with the end of the cable-- makeing at slim as possible withought losing grip on the cable. And I just pulled it through.

It's been a while, so one the inside part, if you can't squeeze the hanger through with the regular wires, you'll need to cut a second slit there-- use the hanger to poke the rubber and then cut where you see the hanger trying to push through.

Don't skimp on the cable size, the larger the better--- even if you don't need it now, it will be useful down the road when you may wish to upgrade to a more powerful system.

looks like you just cut a hole in one side of the rubber grommet thingy. there's probably another layer on the cabin side of the rubber

this is under the drivers side right? Wnat an easy way to access it? Take off your tire and then take out the splash gaurd. You can see the gromet fromt he other side and the hole into the engine bay. i did this to run all my wires.

If the coat hangger does not work.

try doing it with a fine tip drill, not the drill that you use for drilling the wall

I'll tell you this, it was a BITCH to do. Took me 2 hours to figure it out. I stuck it in 1st from the inside of the car after removing ALL the tape on it. Then I used a small screwdriver and gently stuck in in through the fender side, stretched it as far as I could, and oulled it in a tad. IF you have a freind to push it while you do that, it will make it OH SO MUCH easier. Arg. Anyway:
