Moving to Phoenix

Gurus,

I am moving from Pittsburgh to Phoenix.
I am going to drive my 2001 Camry CE (that's a long drive).
Changed oil couple of weeks ago (used 5W-30).

Do I have to do anything special to my camry for the heat (115 degF),
while on my way and after I get there?

I am going to get my windows tinted after I get there, ASAP.

Any suggestions will be appreciated....

Thanks.

Window TINTS...hehe...My Brother has been living there for 20+ years. He is a Mecedes Salesman. Trust me it will be HOT..Hot..HOT!

I "think" you can tint them more so then most other states...not sure tho...
Maybe you will want a Tranny cooler...

Olddood is talking about an add-on ATF fluid cooler. This is like a small radiator for better cooling of your transmission fluid. It increases the life of your fluid and your transmission. They are a great idea in hot climates

http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/july01/cooler.shtml
link on how to install an ATF oil cooler.
Also i'd be using Mobil 1 oil in the crankcase if i lived in Phoenix, maybe i'd also consider an Optima gel battery when the old one conked out too.

My Mom has lived there for many years and has bought a new Camry every 4yrs. All with AT. Her only issues have been the same as all other cars. The dry rot that eats your belts and hoses. Not a biggie. Beats rust worries...

A windshield visor to keep the fire and brimstone.... I mean the sun off the dash. I have friends who live in Phoenix and none of them have window tint because they say it doesn't do any good. I went there in the summer and A/C or not the sun was baking my skin. I'd get tinting done if I was there.

The sun is strong here in Albuquerque but thankfully the summer is not that hot. Usually doesn't break 100. Good luck out there.

Did you know that they say Phoenix is the SWEATIEST City in the United States? On an average hot day the total population of Phoenix will sweat as much fluid to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool in 3 hours time.

yuuummmm...Refreshing eh?
