The coil would need to handle the accompanying increased output voltage without insulation break down. It was designed to work within the current cars input voltages plus a little extra. What would happen at prolonged higher voltage output, I can’t say.
A “hotter” spark can increase power and mileage. If the car is stock, I wonder. Car manufactures have jumped through hoops to increase mileage and power. As such if these items worked as advertised, manufactures would have already done this. The added cost per car at their production rates would be very low.
At $150 for the lower priced unit, I might ponder just a bit. At 2 times $228 each, no way! I just don’t see the benefits for this high cost.
I really think the money would be better spent on making sure the distributor cap, rotor, wires and plugs were in good shape. Read up on engine modifications and ignition systems, do a web search. Your money would be better spent else where or not at all.
