Replacing cartridge style struts with sealed struts?

I have a 1988 camry wagon. I didn't look at the car yet, but I did notice there is the option to order cartridge style replacements (I've done these before on my '88 celica) or sealed struts. I would prefer to get the sealed, they are a little more in price. But I would like a new strut and not to mess with taking the cartridge style apart. I was just wondering if these are interchangable.

Example: if my car came with cartridges, could I swap for sealed?

yup it's possible i've did it... replaced my servicable struts for whole new struts from KYB.. i kept my casings though just in case for future needs
