Preformance loss after oil change

Ok so I changed my oil yesterday and since then my acceleration has been crap.

My car revs just as high before but the gain in speed at the same RPMs is WAY less.

What might I have done that could have caused this decrees in power?

I did change my air filter and oil filter used Valvoline 10w30...

Anyone have any ideas?

You don't say which model you have. It's possible when changing the air filter you disconnected a vacuum line or something. Go back and look for anything that looks un-attached.

Perhaps the oil was overfilled?

3rd Generation

Everything seems to be fine with it... Possibly a little on the high end but not very much... it had 10w30 in it from the last time (that time I took it into valvoline) so I used the same oil... Maybe I'll take it in and have them drain it and thus flush the oil... I dunno.

I'm just frustrated with the sudden lost of power and accelration.

Sound like the some extra air coming in from the intake. Check the air filter box if it's snug. My friends rubber housing that connected the air box to the throttle body had a crack and it had the same symptoms as yours.

The difference in 5W30 and 10W30 wouldnt be enough to effect anything like you are stating... I would look around like others have mentioned and see if you might have knocked something loose

I think diycamry is correct. When you lifted the lid on the air filter housing, it could have caused the tube going from the air filter housing to the throttle body, to crack. That would explain the symptoms you have. Check that out carefully, expecially underneath where you can't easily see it. Take it off or use a mirror if you have to to see underneath.
