haha thats not dumb dude, everyone wants clean mats (or they should) it seems like theyd be okay... i dont see why not. it seems like they put up with more abuse than the dryer every day, i would think theyd be alright
only concern is the rubber at the back of the mat. Hot temperature might make the rubber loose its elasticity, and you might end up with a hard and cracked mat. I have not tried it before, but make sure you have another set of extra mat before you try.
tried it, i would HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST IT. the back side cracks up and over time you see chunks come out. Honestly, this is the sequence of what i would advise to clean your mats:
1. vaccumm them (doh)
2. spray and remove marks (i use TUFF-STUFF)
3. Then i take them to self servce coin operated car washes (pressure washers) and pressure wash them clean
4. After they dry then rent one of those Rug-Doctors (its a rug cleaner rented at grocery stores and they have a upholstry attachment)...ensure you buy the stain remove solution with that.
VOLLA...you mats will be brand spanking new again!
If they're carpet on rubber I wouldn't do it . Heat softens glue and the two may separate. Shampoo them and give them a good rinse. Then wet vac them. Let them air dry.

And Violla!! You could have bought new OEM mats off Ebay for the price of a rug doctor!
Does your dryer smell like hot rubber now? fyi my dryer is heated by natural gas and the inside drum gets seriously too hot to touch. I think I would most likely melt the backs if I did that.
Anyways I didn't know you could hit them with a pressure washer. If I do so I think i'll stick with air drying in the sun.
Useing a DRYER? That is foolish. Read the manual for dryers...they say NEVER put rubber backed items in there.
I have no cleaning problems with my carpeted mats. I also got All Weather ones. I put the carpeted mats away and will only pull them out when I sell the car. They will be "Factory Clean".

Sure, but you get to clean your home's carpets too.
I do clean my house carpets myself every 6 months with a rug doctor. Its a $25 rental machine and i do choose the $5 accessory for upholstry. I don't necessarily rent it for the car mats, its just so happens that when i clean my home carpets, i just happen to clean my car mats. Try taking it to a detail shop and you'll spend close to $50 in getting them clean. Sure its expensive for $30, but then again..i guess thats why my 10 year old car-mats still look NEW!
On another note, I bought some new OEM mats off eBay, but that was after the Rug Doctor, and they were more than the rental.
Glad someone here knows this. Surely you get cheap mats on ebay. but the oem are expensive. Factor in shipping and the rug doc seem pretty cheap to me. But then again, I'm at TN. People do at times BS here like anything.
