4th Generation Sway bar rear bushings and?

Used the search & see Gen 4 sway bar bushings are a problem my 97 LE had front changed once & maybe due again Rear never changed , Tried the looseness test & I will change them. While there I found the forward bushings for the rear susension mount cross member seem rather loose too . Anyone experienced noise generated by these items ? Looseness (vertical ) appears to be about 1/8 inch. Shocks are solid & no play in sway bar links So hopefully only SB bushings. Not allowed to post pic ??

Not sure I follow your post exactly.....you are having the dreaded Camry knocking sound?

I had a knocking sound in the rear of my 95 Camry. This weekend I replaced the rear sway bar bushings and the noise is completely gone! The best part is the bushings cost $7.94 and took about 15 minutes per side. Try the SB bushings first. Good luck.

Go look at the sticky for the Gen 4 Repair Manual. There are blown up diagrams in there that will show you what part you need and the part number. If you can get us this information, we can help you out.

The rubber parts I am refering to seem to be part of "Suspension Member Lower Stopper" They are Large rubber washers - The clearance seems to be about 1/8 while whell assy is supported -- too loose?

If you are talking about the bushings in the lateral control arms, the rear one on each side of the car should have some front to back play. The front one should be firm.

You may want to read and follow this current thread where another TN'er is having some rear suspension noises/problems too:
